Abstrak

This study aims to analyze the understanding of basic mathematical concepts, particularly in the area of numbers, among non-mathematics education students at FKIP. The research subjects consisted of three students with the highest GPA in the non-mathematics education program. Three questions were given to assess their conceptual understanding: (1) addition of odd numbers, (2) comparison of fractions and decimals, and (3) simple interest calculation. The research method used was descriptive qualitative. The results indicate that two out of three students were able to correctly understand the concepts of odd and even numbers, while only one student successfully solved the fraction and decimal comparison problem. All three students were able to solve the simple interest question. These findings suggest that, although non-mathematics education students have high GPAs, their understanding of basic mathematical concepts still varies.
